DIRECTOR | ARTIST

Vera Iona Papadopoulou is a director and interdisciplinary artist, born into a multicultural family in Kiev (Ukraine) and currently based in Greece. Her work delves into the living narratives of real stories, exploring the intricate layers of human identity, spirituality, and the transformative power of the body with the ultimate aim of promoting positive change and personal growth.

Her artistic portfolio spans experimental films, videos, documentaries, and performances. Drawing upon personal confessions as a key research tool, she explores the complexities of identity, otherness, gender, violence, movement, and displacement, intertwining themes of spirituality and self-discovery.

With a diverse educational background, including a Master’s in Digital Art (ASFA), Film Direction from Moscow (VGIK), and a Bachelor’s in Architecture from Odessa (OGASA), as well as participation in ICA Moscow’s educational program, “The Problems of Contemporary Art – New Art Strategies,” Vera has sculpted a multidimensional perspective that breathes life into her cinematic creations.

Her films have been screened at festivals around the world, and her collaborations encompass significant figures in the realms of performance and visual arts, including luminaries like Marina Abramovic and Yoko Ono. Vera has worked with museums and galleries across Greece, Russia, the United States, England, Romania, Estonia, and Ukraine, including renowned institutions such as GARAGE, Cookhouse Gallery, Zurab Tsereteli Art Gallery, MSIO, Solyanka State Gallery, MoMa PopRally, and more. She has also curated and organized exhibitions and performance art festivals, both in urban and online spaces.

Alongside her artistic endeavors, Vera is deeply engaged in spiritual practices and exploration of the body’s potential for transformation. Holding a Yoga Alliance RYT200 diploma and having delved into various spiritual practices since 2010, she integrates these experiences into her creative process, infusing her work with elements of mindfulness, embodiment, and spiritual inquiry.

She is the founder of Full Flight Productions, a film, video, and new media production company specialising in empowering transformative stories.

Vera is inspired by real people and stories of transformation, and her artistic vision is rooted in the fusion of new media, documentary cinema, performance art, spirituality, and the exploration of the body. By converging these mediums, her goal is to craft narratives that invite audiences into a world where storytelling becomes an immersive journey of self-discovery and artistic exploration.
